HOLYBRO UBEC 5A (3–14S) – Compact Adjustable Voltage Regulator for UAV and Robotics Systems

The HOLYBRO UBEC 5A is a compact synchronous DC-DC step-down regulator designed to provide reliable power for receivers, sensors, and other electronic components. The UBEC supports a wide input voltage range of 3S to 14S LiPo and converts the battery voltage into a stable output voltage for connected devices.

Depending on the application, the output voltage can be configured to 5.2 V, 8 V, or 12 V. The desired voltage is selected by bridging the corresponding solder pads on the PCB. This allows the UBEC to be flexibly adapted to different components and supply voltage requirements.

With a weight of only 6.7 g and dimensions of just 35 × 24 × 6.5 mm, the module is particularly suitable for UAVs, robotics platforms, and other unmanned systems where a compact and lightweight power supply is required.

Efficient DC-DC Voltage Regulation

The HOLYBRO UBEC 5A uses a highly efficient DC-DC voltage regulator with an efficiency of over 90%. The input voltage is efficiently reduced and stabilized to the selected output voltage.

The wide operating voltage range of 8 to 60 V enables use with different power supply systems. In addition, the input features TVS protection to protect the electronics against voltage spikes.

Adjustable Output Voltage

The output voltage can be configured to three different voltage levels depending on the requirements of the connected electronics. Configuration is performed directly on the PCB by bridging the corresponding solder pads.

Output Current Depending on Selected Voltage

The maximum available continuous output current depends on the selected output voltage. At 5.2 V, the UBEC can provide up to 5 A continuously. At higher output voltages, the maximum continuous current is reduced accordingly.

For 3S to 14S Batteries

The HOLYBRO UBEC 5A supports battery configurations from 3S to 14S, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of UAV and robotics platforms. The electrical operating voltage range of the regulator is 8 to 60 V.

Important Note for 12 V Output

The regulator has a 2 V dropout voltage. Therefore, an input voltage of at least 14 V is required to provide a stable regulated 12 V output. At lower input voltages, a stable 12 V output cannot be guaranteed.
