HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro – High-Precision Flight Controller for Professional UAV Systems

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro is a high-performance flight controller designed for demanding industrial, commercial and professional UAV applications. With its STM32H753 processor, three different IMU sensors, redundant barometric sensing and high-grade industrial sensors, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro provides a powerful foundation for precise flight control and complex autonomous applications.

A particular focus of the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro is its sensor architecture. Two industrial IMUs are vibration-isolated, while an additional ICM-45686 IMU with BalancedGyro™ technology is rigidly mounted. This combination provides multiple independent measurement sources with different characteristics and measurement ranges.

The flight controller module is part of the modular Pixhawk® architecture and can be combined with a suitable baseboard according to the specific application. This makes the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro particularly suitable for custom-developed and professional unmanned systems.

Industrial IMU Sensors

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro features three different accelerometer and gyroscope sensors. These include an ADIS16470 Industrial IMU, an IIM-42652 Industrial IMU and an ICM-45686 IMU with BalancedGyro™ technology.

The ADIS16470 and IIM-42652 are vibration-isolated, reducing the transmission of mechanical vibrations from the aircraft to the sensors. The ICM-45686 is rigidly mounted and provides an additional independent measurement source within the sensor architecture.

Multiple Sensor Redundancy

By combining three different IMU sensors, the flight controller has access to multiple independent sources of acceleration and angular-rate data. The individual sensors feature different measurement ranges and characteristics, creating a robust foundation for professional flight control applications.

In addition, two independent barometric pressure sensors are available, providing redundant air-pressure measurement for altitude estimation.

Powerful STM32H753 Processor

The central processing unit is an STM32H753 featuring a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M7 core. The processor operates at up to 480 MHz and provides 2 MB of flash memory and 1 MB of RAM.

The high processing performance provides sufficient resources for demanding flight control, navigation and automation tasks, making the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro a powerful platform for complex unmanned systems.

Separate IO Processor

In addition to the powerful FMU processor, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro features a separate STM32F103 IO processor. It is based on a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M3 core, operates at 72 MHz and provides 64 KB of SRAM.

Separating the main processor from the IO processor allows different control and input/output tasks to be handled independently within the flight controller.

Vibration-Isolated Industrial IMUs

A key feature of the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro is the vibration-isolated mounting of the two industrial IMUs, the ADIS16470 and IIM-42652. Mechanical decoupling helps reduce disturbances caused by vibrations generated by motors, propellers and the airframe.

This supports precise motion measurement and is particularly advantageous for larger or high-performance UAV platforms where significant mechanical loads and vibrations may occur.

Redundant Barometric Sensors

For barometric altitude measurement, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro features two independent sensors: an ICP20100 and a BMP388.

The two barometric sensors provide multiple air-pressure measurement sources and support reliable altitude estimation and flight control.

Integrated Magnetometer

An integrated BMM150 magnetometer complements the sensor platform. It measures the magnetic field and provides additional data for determining the orientation of the unmanned system.

Hardware Security with NXP EdgeLock SE050

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro features an integrated NXP EdgeLock SE050 Plug & Trust Secure Element. This hardware security element provides additional hardware-based security functions for modern connected unmanned systems.

Modular System Architecture

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X Pro is designed as a modular flight controller module. This allows the flight controller and baseboard to be combined according to the requirements of the respective system.

The modular architecture enables integration into a wide variety of UAV platforms and provides developers with additional flexibility when designing custom systems.
