HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X – High-Performance Flight Controller for Professional UAV Systems

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X is a powerful and modular flight controller designed for industrial, commercial and professional UAV applications. With its high-performance STM32H753 processor, triple-redundant IMU architecture and modern modular design, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X provides a reliable foundation for demanding flight control and autonomy applications.

The combination of high processing performance, redundant sensors, optimized vibration isolation and a temperature-controlled IMU platform enables precise and reliable flight data acquisition. This makes the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X suitable for a wide range of unmanned systems and allows flexible integration into professional UAV platforms.

Triple-Redundant IMU Architecture

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X features three independent ICM-45686 IMU sensors with a measurement range of up to ±32 g and BalancedGyro™ technology. The sensor architecture is complemented by two barometric pressure sensors.

The three sensor domains are fully separated and feature independent bus systems as well as independent power control. This redundant architecture enables robust measurement of acceleration and angular rates and provides a reliable foundation for flight control.

Powerful STM32H753 Processor

The main processor is an STM32H753 featuring a 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M7 core. With a clock speed of up to 480 MHz, 2 MB of flash memory and 1 MB of RAM, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X provides sufficient processing performance for demanding flight control, navigation and automation tasks.

Modular Architecture

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X is based on a modular architecture in which the IMU module, FMU and base system are implemented as separate components. These components are connected through a 100-pin and 50-pin Pixhawk® Bus.

The flight controller module forms the central processing unit of the system and can be combined with a suitable baseboard according to the requirements of the respective system configuration.

Triple Redundancy Domains

The three sensor domains of the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X are fully isolated from each other and feature separate bus systems as well as independent power control. This allows the individual sensor domains to operate independently.

This architecture is particularly suitable for professional UAV applications where high reliability and robust flight control are required.

Optimized Vibration Isolation

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X features a newly developed and durable vibration isolation system. Instead of a conventional foam-based solution, a specially engineered isolation material is used to provide optimized damping for the integrated IMUs.

The resonance frequency of the system is positioned in a higher frequency range. This helps effectively attenuate vibrations and supports the sensors in accurately measuring acceleration and motion. The system has been developed specifically for industrial and commercial UAV applications.

Temperature-Controlled IMU Platform

The IMU platform of the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X features integrated temperature control. This allows the sensors to operate within an optimized temperature range and contributes to stable and reliable sensor measurements.

Ethernet Interface

For high-speed communication with powerful mission computers, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X features an Ethernet interface. This allows high-performance companion computers and other systems to be connected using high data rates.

Transformerless Ethernet connectivity can be implemented using 50-ohm termination resistors on the target device.

Support for Digital Power Modules

The HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X supports digital power modules for more precise voltage and current measurement. This allows important electrical operating data of the UAV system to be monitored and used for system supervision.

Selectable PWM Signal Voltage

The PWM signal outputs operate at 3.3 V by default. By modifying the corresponding onboard resistor, the signal voltage can be changed to 5 V.

Note: Switching to 5 V requires a corresponding modification to the baseboard.

Hardware Security

For additional security functions, the HOLYBRO Pixhawk® 6X features an integrated NXP EdgeLock SE050 Plug & Trust Secure Element. This hardware security element provides an additional security component for modern connected unmanned systems.
