HOLYBRO PM06D Power Module – Digital Power Supply and Integrated Power Distribution for Pixhawk® 5X & 6X

The HOLYBRO PM06D Power Module combines regulated power supply for modern Pixhawk® flight controllers with digital voltage and current monitoring as well as integrated power distribution for ESCs. This allows the flight controller and propulsion system to be connected to the flight battery through a single centralized board.

The PM06D was developed, among other applications, for the Pixhawk® 5X and Pixhawk® 6X. Battery voltage and current consumption are measured digitally via an I2C-compatible interface and transmitted to the flight controller together with the power supply through a 6-pin connection.

The integrated switching regulator provides a regulated output voltage of 5.2 V with a maximum output current of 3 A. With an input voltage range from 2S to 14S, the PM06D is also suitable for higher-performance UAV platforms operating with higher battery voltages.

Digital Voltage and Current Measurement

During operation, the PM06D monitors the battery voltage and current consumption of the system. The measurements are transmitted to the flight controller via an I2C-compatible digital interface.

Integrated Power Distribution

In addition to supplying power to the flight controller, the PM06D features integrated power distribution for ESCs. This allows both the flight controller and propulsion system to be connected to the flight battery through the same centralized board.

The combination of power module and power distribution reduces wiring complexity and enables a clean system layout within the UAV.

Regulated 5.2 V Power Supply

The integrated switching regulator converts the battery voltage into a regulated output voltage of 5.2 V DC. A maximum of 3 A is available for the connected flight controller.

The HOLYBRO PM06D is designed for flight controllers with a digital power module interface. These include in particular the Pixhawk® 5X and Pixhawk® 6X.

Unlike the analog power modules of the PM series, voltage and current measurements are transmitted digitally by the PM06D via the I2C-compatible interface.

For 2S to 14S Batteries

The PM06D supports an input voltage range of 2S to 14S. This allows the power module to be used in conventional multicopters as well as in higher-performance professional UAV platforms.

High Current Capability

The PM06D PCB is designed for a continuous current of up to 70 A. For short periods of less than 60 seconds, it can handle currents of up to 120 A. The integrated current measurement supports a range of up to 327 A.

Pre-Assembled Connections

The HOLYBRO PM06D is supplied fully assembled and features a pre-installed XT60 connector as well as a capacitor. This allows the power module to be integrated into a UAV system with minimal wiring effort.

A Molex CLIK-Mate wire-to-board connector with a 2.00 mm pitch is used for the connection to the flight controller. It is rated for a current of up to 3.0 A per contact.

Important Note on Current Capacity

The pre-installed XT60 connectors and 14 AWG silicone wires are rated for a continuous current of 30 A and a short-term peak current of 60 A for less than one minute.

The current capacity of the PCB itself is higher, with a continuous rating of 70 A and a peak rating of 120 A. If higher currents are required, the connectors and wire gauge must be appropriately selected and adapted to the actual electrical load.

PX4 Configuration

When using the PM06D 14S version, the SENS_EN_INA228 parameter must be enabled in PX4 to ensure that digital voltage and current measurements are correctly detected and processed.
